Edward Cyr - Secretary

Edward Cyr is a registered member of Kebowek First Nations, located in Kipawa, Quebec. Born and raised in Toronto, he spent much of his childhood living at Gabriel Dumont Non-Profit Housing on Kingston Road in Galloway.

 

He comes from a mixed heritage, with his father being Algonquin and his mother of French, English, Irish, and Scottish descent. He belongs to the Eagle clan, and his Spirit name is Sacred Eagle Man. 

 

With more than 21 years of experience in the Aboriginal community, Edward has dedicated his career to frontline services for Indigenous people. He is the creator of the Relentless clothing line and the Sunday Night Sex and Love Show. His professional roles have included HIV outreach work, child welfare access, youth justice, and housing support, as well as work in Aboriginal business development and employment training.

 

He is currently a crisis response specialist with Two Spirits to the First Nations, assisting individuals in crisis, and he has previously served with the Ontario Native Women's Association as an anti-human trafficking worker. 

 

Edward is deeply proud of his community and heritage, and he is honored to contribute as a member of the Gabriel Dumont Non-Profit Housing board of directors.
